Interview - Judy Schefer
The purpose for my interview is to understand why the volunteers do what they do , because without volunteers places like this would not be able to help kids in need.
· What is it about this institution that keeps you coming back day after day?
· What kind of impact do you expect to have on the kids here at the home?
· What is the biggest benefit of volunteering here?
· How is your experience with the kids here?
Laura, I began working in 1969 here. I came to help children.
Over the years I have raised thousands of kids. great satisfaction in giving a child a home when they have failed so many foster homes due to anger etc. I have had many jobs in the 44 years, including child care worker, manager, and volunteer coordinator. I don’t know what you mean by troubles. We are not a shelter…that is the Receiving home on auburn blvd. We are a treatment center for kids who have failed many foster homes.
